Afghanistan: Deadly blast hits Kunduz mosque during Friday prayers
A deadly explosion has hit a mosque in the northern Afghan city of Kunduz during Friday prayers, witnesses say.
Images posted on social media purported to be of the mosque show extensive damage. It is not yet clear how many people have been killed.
Reports say the mosque was used by the minority Shia Muslim community.
Sunni Muslim extremists have often targeted members of the Shia community in the past because they consider them to be heretics.
In a short statement posted to Twitter, Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid said that a number of people had reportedly been killed and injured.
The Taliban took control of Afghanistan after capturing Kabul on 15 August.
